Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

The Citizen Law Enforcement Academy is designed to provide the citizens of Santa Rosa County with an understanding of the policies, procedures and techniques used by the Sheriff’s Office in carrying out their duties. Demonstrations will be presented ranging from a deputy’s basic equipment to crime scene investigations. All students will be encouraged to participate in as much hands-on training as they wish and comfortable with. Areas such as K-9 deployment, jail operations, patrol, sexual abuse investigations, DUI checkpoints, crime scene methodology, school resources and D.A.R.E., drug operations, firearm familiarization, defensive tactics, intermediate weapons, and SWAT team techniques. The students are able to graduate from the twelve (12) week class with a clearer understanding of what their county’s law enforcement officers experience in their line of duty.

Our next class starts on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. and will end on April 17, 2008.

All classes are held at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office main building at 5755 East Milton Road.
