Avoid Being Victimized by Fraud

Before making any large cash withdrawal, please consider the following questions:

  • Have I been approached by a stranger?
  • Have I been shown an envelope or package of cash?
  • Have I been told I am a lottery winner?
  • Have I been told of an unexpected inheritance or other surprise windfall?
  • Have I been told not to tell anyone about this transaction?
  • Have I been told this transaction must be made right now, without delay?
  • Have I been promised a large return later for putting money down now?
  • Is somebody waiting outside for me after I withdraw cash?
If you can answer "yes" to even one of the questions above, you may be a victim of fraud. If this is the case, permit your financial institution to contact law enforcement before proceeding with the transaction.
