Deputy Lewis Saves Life of Citizen

Deputy Anna Lewis of the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office saved the life of John Rollo on August 3, 2007. On that date she observed Rollo driving erratically on US 90. She was finally able to pull him over and found that he was very disoriented with a high sugar level in his blood. Rollo is a diabetic and was trying to get home when he was pulled over by Lewis. When she noticed his condition she began asking him questions about his diabetes, which resulted in her calling an ambulance and having him transported to the hospital. There they found his blood sugar level at 1,000 whereas a normal reading can be as high as 100. Based on his condition he was admitted and spent the next month hospitalized. Rollo told reporters that "she saved my life because she was concerned. It was her attitude that saved me." Hospital officials confirmed that Deputy Lewis had indeed saved his life by her prompt actions and judgment. On September 25, 2007 Deputy Lewis was commended by Sheriff Wendell Hall for her professionalism and dedication to duty with Mr. Rollo present for the ceremony.
