Sheriff Wendell Hall of the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office presented Miss Lexi Ward with a special award after her entry was chosen as the winner in a coloring contest. Members of the Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit sponsored the contest to make elementary school children more aware of the danger of firearms and what to do if they found one. Numerous entries were received from 3 rd to 5 th graders in the area through their School Resource Officers. First place in the contest went to Miss Lexi Ward, a third grader at the Santa Rosa Christian School . She was presented with a large teddy bear and a bicycle helmet by Sheriff Hall. Runner up entries were submitted by Elaine Martin, Allison Brewer, and Alex Nunn, who attend the Berryhill Elementary School. The presentation was set up by Crime Prevention Specialists Cindy Sarver and Bonnie Baker and made before Terry Neustaeter, Principal, and Deputy Marshal Holbrook, School Resource Officer.
