UPDATE: URGENT PRESS RELEASE

SUBJECT HAS BEEN LOCATED AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Demmy Pitts was located around 6pm this evening after a citizen heard the report on television (WEAR Channel 3) and realized that they were following the vehicle on Highway 90 in Milton. The citizen called 911 and told dispatchers that they were following the vehicle. Deputies were immediately dispatched, as the citizen continued to follow the vehicle, relaying their location to deputies. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Avalon Blvd. at Kingery Road and Pitts was taken into custody per the court order without incident. Pitts was escorted to the Santa Rosa Medical Center, and then transferred to the Santa Rosa County Jail where he is being held in isolation pending his transport to Bay County . The Sheriff's Office would like to commend the media and the citizens for their tremendous response in helping to locate this individual.

Sheriff Looking for Man Considered Immediate and Substantial Risk to Public Health

 

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man believed to be in the Santa Rosa County area after an “Order for Emergency Hold” was issued by a Circuit Court Judge in Bay County Florida. The person being sought is Demmy Jon Pitts, 51 years old. No specific medical conditions will be discussed, however according to a Bay County court order, Pitts has a reckless disregard for the health of the public and is an IMMEDIATE AND SUBSTANTIAL THREAT TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE. A nationwide pickup order is being issued for Pitts. The public's help would be greatly appreciated so that Pitts can be detained. The public should not come in contact with Pitts and immediately contact local law enforcement.

 

Pitts is believed to be driving a black 1992 Mercedes Benz , FL tag E33-3FL.
