The
summer youth camp sponsored by the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office ended
on Friday July 7, 2006 after ten weeks of great success. The camp
was designed around "at risk" children or children who
need guidance in their lives and was centered on the goals of nutrition,
safety, fitness, health, and harmony. It
is the desire of the Sheriff's Office to take these children and
provide them with direction, give them positive role models, and
facilitate education in a setting that is different from the typical
contact they may normally have with law enforcement. The
counselors during the program were made up of sheriff's office personnel
who participated in the activities on a volunteer basis. Sheriff
Wendell Hall met with the children on July 7th to eat lunch with
them and to present them with their certificates of completion and
appreciation for their attendance.
