Sheriff to Host Mock Exercise

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with State, Local, and Federal agencies which comprise the CART unit, will be conducting a mock child abduction scenario during the morning hours of November 08, 2006. The Child Abduction Response Team (CART) activates, when requested, in any area of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's seven regions. CART is designed to provide assistance and investigative resources to the local agency that has jurisdiction over the incident. The team acts as a "force multiplier for the impacted agency". CART is an organized, rapid, planned response to a child abduction or other missing child incident. Tomorrow, these agencies will be testing their response, assuring that there is adequate communications and processing of leads should this unfortunate situation arise in the future. Our goal is to spend time looking for a missing child, not scrambling for resources. The media is invited to attend this exercise between the hours of 10:00 am and 11:30 am. The exercise will be conducted as a real child abduction, including police radio traffic, etc. Please disregard any such information that is heard over any scanners or other means. The staging area, which is open to the media, between 10:00 am and 11:30 am only, will be at the East Milton Recreational Center, located on Bobby Brown Road off of East Milton Road .
