On
June 29, 2007 the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office bade their farewell
to Deputy Ringo, a long time member of the agency's K-9 corps who
passed away. Sergeant Ricky Perritt writes, "On June 29th my
friend and faithful, partner K-9 RINGO passed. For those of you
who never had the opportunity to work with RINGO I will just say
you missed out on a treat. He was always ready to work, feared nothing
and never refused a command. RINGO had been dealing with some medical
problems over the past year, he had a neurological disorder to his
lower spine this affected his ability to walk or do things he wanted.
Some quick notes on RINGO are that the first five days he was in
our employment as a K-9 he bit five people, one was the vet giving
him his physical plus three officers from other agencies during
his K-9 school and yes me in the face that required six sutures.
As you can tell he was a little misunderstood at first but we soon
realized he just had a passion for doing his job. I am proud to
say that during his tour at the Sheriffs Office RINGO captured many
bad guys and took some dope off our streets, but most of all he
had to wear a muzzle on his last visit to the vet where he attempted
to apprehend the vet putting him to sleep. RINGO you are my friend
and I will never forget you."
