On
July 12, 2006 Sheriff Wendell Hall was presented with a $750.00
check from the 7th Grade class to be used to purchase a bullet-resistant
vest for K-9 Deputy Kai. The idea behind the contribution began
with a presentation by Kai's handler Deputy Adam Teichner who gave
a week long training session on K-9 operations while school was
still in session. The students became interested in the project
and received funding through the "Service Preparadness and
Response Coalition or SPaRC" organization. They began to raise
money for the vest through various fundraising activities and by
the end of the school year were able to present Sheriff Hall with
a sizable contribution.
