The Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office has recently
completed training on the new ground penetrating radar system (GPR)
provided by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Sheriff Wendell
Hall sent his crime scene director Charlie Peters and several of
his technicians through the training in order to learn how to use
the highly sensitive equipment. The training was also made available
to other law enforcement agencies in the Northwest Florida area.
The GPR will be used in the future to look for evidence located
underneath the ground. The sensors can be set at a particular depth
and will look for disturbances in the earth beneath the surface
and can detect such things as pipes, objects, weapons, or even human
remains. The instructor was Ms. Dena Delday with the Canadian based
company, Sensors & Software Inc.
