On
December 1, 2006 Deputy Mike Donlan, the eight year veteran resource
officer at East Milton Elementary School, attempted to render aid
to a person who was apparently suffering from a medical emergency.
A passing motorist had an 85-year old passenger experiencing what
appeared to be a heart attack and saw Donlan's patrol car parked
in front of the school and ran inside requesting assistance. Deputy
Donlan and school administrators responded with their AED equipment
and the victim was transported to Santa Rosa Medical Center. Based
on Deputy Donlan's reaction the assistant principal at the school
sent an email as seen below to Sheriff Wendell Hall commending the
deputy for his professional demeanor throughout the situation and
how honored the school is to have him as their Resource Officer.
"Dear
Sheriff Hall, Today
we had a pedestrian pull into our school and request emergency assistance
with a medical emergency. His father had keeled over riding
down the road and he saw the deputy car so he stopped. We
responded with our AED device, and AED response team. Our
SRO, Deputy Mike Donlan took charge of the scene and performed in
a professional manner while administering life saving attempts to
the victim. I just wanted you to know how professionally he
performed, while attempting to save this man's life. He was
calm in the face of the storm and I am extremely proud of his attempts.
Thank you so much for promoting the SRO program in Santa Rosa County
. I consider East Milton Elementary School to be so lucky
to have Mike Donlan. He is a professional with the utmost
integrity who represents your department in a way that should make
you very proud. We are certainly proud to have him as a Roadrunner!
Thank you for all you do, Jerilyn Hughes."
