SHERIFF'S OFFICE

PRESS RELEASE

2/22/07

Sheriff's Office to Hold Public Auction of Seized Vehicles

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office will be holding a public auction of its seized vehicles on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 1 pm. The auction will be held at Manheim's Pensacola Auto Auction at 401 West Burgess Road in Pensacola FL. (Located off of Highway 29 behind the Greyhound Bus Terminal) Many of the vehicles being auctioned are from the large drug bust that occurred in May 2006 which resulted in the seizure of 22 vehicles and the arrest of 23 suspects. Many of the suspects arrested were sentenced to lengthy Federal Prison terms, the highest being life plus ten years. The Sheriff's Office is also including some fleet vehicles in the auction. This auction is open to the public and viewing of the vehicles begins at 9 am. People participating in the bidding process are required to register the day of the auction, prior to bidding. Only cash or certified funds are being accepted and proof of this must be submitted at the time of registration. A list of the vehicles being auctioned is listed below. Many of the seized vehicles are custom, including high dollar sound systems and entertainment systems. Some vehicles are equipped with multiple televisions (flip down, in the seats, trunks, and headlights) as well as Play Station 2 gaming systems, and high dollar rims and tires. All vehicles are being sold in "as is" condition with no warranties expressed or implied. We encourage the public to come and bid on these vehicles. The proceeds from the seized vehicles goes into the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, which is regulated by State Statutes, and is utilized for programs such as drug education and school resource officer programs. Any questions can be directed to Manheim's Pensacola Auto Auction at 477-3063.
