Jack Onkka
Captain Jack Onkka
currently serves over the Uniform Patrol Operation in the
South Section for the Sheriff’s Office. In addition
to his patrol responsibilities he is also in charge of the
traffic unit, reserve program, honor guard, K-9 unit, and
the newly formed critical incident stress management group.
He
has been with the Sheriff’s office since 1985. During
his tenure, he has worked in detention, patrol, narcotics
investigations, homicide investigations, and crime prevention.
He has also been a School Resource Officer, a Detective Division
Supervisor, and a District Lieutenant. Additionally, he provided
security for the soccer venue of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games
in the Security Team Program. He also served as a law enforcement
volunteer for the main media center of the 2002 Winter Olympic
Games, held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Captain Onkka, has
been certified in the state of Florida by the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement to instruct law enforcement personnel.
He is a certified ASP and Verbal Judo instructor and a national
instructor through the Trauma Intervention Program.
