Fiscal
Affairs Section: Headed by the Sheriff's Office Chief Financial
Officer, this section is responsible for payroll allocation and
annual budgetary preparations of the Sheriff's Office. This section
oversees, manages and maintains records of all Sheriff's Office
financial transactions.
Human
Resources Section: Managed by a lieutenant, this section
is responsible for the screening and hiring of Sheriff's Office
members. It is also responsible for the following: providing assistance
and service information to members; monitoring insurance benefits
provided to members and retirees; acting as a liaison between the
Sheriff's Office and members concerning family medical leave; creating
and maintaining member personnel and retirement records in compliance
with state regulations; and ensuring the Sheriff's Office is in
compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and the American Disabilities
Act.
Information
Technology: This unit is staffed by technical members and
is responsible for the development of software applications, diagnosing
hardware and software problems, installing and troubleshooting computer
systems, maintenance of computer programs, providing mainframe assistance
to members of the Sheriff's Office and assisting with special projects.
Purchasing
Unit: The Purchasing Unit handles
all ordering of supplies, equipment for the entire agency along
with keeping an accurate inventory of equipment assigned and on-hand.
The Purchasing Unit consists of a civilian supervisor and two employee.

Media
Relations Unit:The Media Relations Unit has a law enforcment
sergeant assigned as a Public Information Officer assigned to this
Unit. The Unit works closely with the media. The goal of this
unit is to get information to the public in a timely manner and
to provide press releases to the media on high profile and serious
criminal incidents that occur in Santa Rosa County. The PIO, or
Public Information Officer, is tasked with working as a liaison
between the news media and the Sheriff's Office in every aspect
that concerns the citizens of this county. This would include but
not limited to social and civic events, wanted fugitives, special
law enforcement operations, disaster management, and public service
announcements.
Administrative
Services: Managed by a Lieutenant, this section is responsible
for the Professional Standards which is responsible for overseeing
policies, procedures and proofs of compliance. The process of Accreditation
was started in 2002 and our Law Enforcement and Detention received
the final Accreditation in 2004. To receive Accreditation is
a prestigious award.
Civil
Process Unit: The Civil Process Unit receives approximately
14,500 judicial process documents in the year 2003. This Unit
is responsible for the receipting, service and returns of service
to counts in and out-of-state. This unit consists of a civilian
supervisor, two sworn deputies, three civil process servers and
three administrative clerks.
Asset
Forfeiture Unit: Is managed by a Sergeant, the monies received
from forfeitures are used to fund education and training of sworn
personnel. The Sheriff's Office made a contribution from forfeiture
funds to the DARE Program to assist the Project Graduation for graduates
of Santa Rosa County.
Front
Desk Services Unit: The Front Desk Services Unit is handled
by two full-time employees, greeting, directing and answering phones
on a daily basis. The front desk receives approximately 300
telephone call per day.
