What
is Crime Analysis?
Crime
Analysis is a set of systematic, analytical processes directed
at providing timely and pertinent information relative to crime
patterns and trend correlations to assist the operational and
administrative personnel in planning the deployment of resources
for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities, aiding
the investigative process, and increasing apprehensions and the
clearance of cases.
The Crime Analysis Unit
supports a number of department functions including patrol, special
operations, tactical units, investigations, planning and research,
crime prevention, and administrative services.
Crime
Patterns and Trends
Currently, the Crime Analysis
Unit actively tracks residential burglary,
commercial burglary, criminal mischief, motor vehicle theft, robbery,
sexual battery, homicides, and larceny for tactical purposes.
Our agency currently uses a Records Management System called SmartRMS
to store all of our arrest reports, offense reports, traffic citations,
calls for service and several other reporting tools that assist
the crime analysts in identifying crime patterns and trends.
All of our reports are computer generated. This system provides
our agency with the most advanced, comprehensive, integrated information
tools proven to reduce crime, increase community and officer safety
and improve agency efficiency.
