The Mission of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office is
to ensure public safety by providing ethical, effective law
enforcement.

Santa Rosa County, Florida
Our
county is located within the panhandle of Florida bordered
by the State of Alabama to the north, the Gulf of Mexico and
Santa Rosa Sound to the south the Escambia River and Escambia
Bay on the west and Okaloosa County on the east. Santa Rosa
County is 1,032 square miles (650,000 acres); the county's
elevation varies from sea level to about 280 feet above sea
level (Jay is the highest point in the county). The estimated
population of the county in 2003 was127,212. Santa Rosa
County has been recognized as one of the fastest growing counties
in the State of Florida according to the latest census data.
Historical Information about Santa Rosa County:
The
County Seat located in Milton, which was established in 1825
as a trading post on the Blackwater River. In the early 1880’s,
the railroad came to town, bringing a new dimension to the
commercial activities in the area.
The
City of Milton is among the oldest cities in Florida, incorporated
in 1844 under the Florida Territorial Acts of 1844.
