PRESS RELEASE

03-24-10

Please be advised that the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office is looking for Jonathan Lynn Simmons (WM DOB 11-03-1978).

The Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance in locating Jonathan Lynn Simmons last known address in the 3700 block of Carabela Lane in Pace, Florida.

On 3/24/10 at approximately 3:30 AM a deputy responded to the Circle K store at 2782 Avalon Blvd after a call was received from the store clerk. The clerk stated that Simmons and a female were in a truck in the parking lot and that the female was mouthing to the clerk “help me please”. When the deputy arrived he saw that the female's lip was red and that Simmons had blood on his arm.

Upon seeing the deputy the female victim ran toward the deputy and then into the store where she collapsed. When the deputy tried to question Simmons he ran to the truck and locked himself inside. The deputy busted out the window in an attempt to detain him. Simmons then fled the area in the truck and led deputies on a high speed pursuit before stopping and fleeing on foot in the area of Glenwood Drive in Milton . Simmons was not located at that time and remains at large.

The investigation revealed that Simmons allegedly battered and choked the pregnant female victim and that he forcibly shoved Xanax pills into her mouth in an attempt to sedate her against her will. The victim reported that she hid the pills under her tongue and later spat them out. It was also alleged that the victim escaped from Simmon's truck at one point prior to the deputy arriving but was dragged back inside by the suspect who displayed an open box cutter while driving the truck.
