Sheriff Wendell Hall

PRESS RELEASE

1/06/08

Sheriff Wendell Hall Re-Sworn In to Office; Swears in Deputies

On 1/06/08 at 0800 hours, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall conducted a swearing in ceremony at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium in Milton . The ceremony began with the Sheriff's Office Honor Guard's presentation of the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. The Honorable Judge Ronald Swanson was present and issued the oath of office to third term Sheriff Wendell Hall. Sheriff Hall's wife was present with him during the oath of office. After Sheriff Hall was re-sworn into office, Sheriff Hall issued the oath of office to the majority of his 190 law enforcement deputies and 87 detention deputies. Some law enforcement and detention deputies were unable to attend the ceremony due to the necessity to continue law enforcement duties throughout the county and inside the jail. The deputies not in attendance will be sworn in at a different time. Sheriff Wendell Hall is the fifth Sheriff since Santa Rosa County 's inception in 1842 to be elected to three consecutive terms of office. The last Sheriff to serve three consecutive terms in Santa Rosa County was Sheriff Marshall Rufus Hayes during the years of 1945 to 1957. The three other three-term Sheriff's were Sheriff Joseph Turpin Allen Sr. (1933 to 1945), Sheriff Henry Clay Mitchell (1921 to 1933), and Sheriff William J. Johnson (1881 to 1893).
