Scott Menefee Located and Back In Custody

The person who was mistakenly released from the Santa Rosa County Jail has been located and arrested. On 4/27/08 around noon , Sheriff's deputies pursued a lead that led them to an address on Bucket Creek Road in Milton . Deputies were able to locate Menefee and take him into custody without incident. He has been returned to the Santa Rosa County Jail to serve the remainder of his jail sentence.

Sheriff's Office Asking for Public's Help in Locating Wanted Man

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating Scott Earl Menefee (36 years old). Menefee is a Pace, FL resident who was serving a misdemeanor jail sentence for violating his probation concerning a non-violent crime. On 04/18/08 , Menefee was mistakenly released from the Santa Rosa County Jail after a clerical error by jail clerk. Menefee's brother, who is also incarcerated at the Santa Rosa County Jail, was scheduled to be released and Scott Menefee was released in his place. A judge has since issued an order to return Menefee back into the custody of the Santa Rosa County Jail. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Menefee is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office, or Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP. A photograph of Menefee is attached to this email.
