SANTA ROSA COUNTY

SHERIFFS OFFICE

Sheriff Wendell Hall

PRESS RELEASE

03-29-10

On March 28, 2010 at 00:40 Sarah E. Magnes reported to the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office that she was robbed at gunpoint and her car was stolen by a masked man. She had traveled to the Pen Air Federal Credit Union at Tiger Point after work and made a deposit into the night drop box. The suspect came up to her after she had gotten back into her vehicle and put a handgun to her head demanding her money. She told him she had already made the deposit so he ordered her to exit the vehicle. He then jumped into the automobile and left the scene. A description of her vehicle was given to the Sheriff's Office as a 2002 4-door Honda silver in color and the tag number. The Gulf Breeze Police Department located the vehicle and began a pursuit. The suspect drove the car to the dead end of East Gadsden Street and into Bayou Texar. He jumped out of the car before it entered the water. Officers of the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, Gulf Breeze Police Department, and Pensacola Police Department began a search for the suspect but could not locate him. Statements were taken from the victim and the case is under investigation.
