The Santa Rosa Sheriff's office was dispatched to 5552 Woodcrest Drive at 0054 hours in reference to a family disturbance. Upon arrival deputies found John Spinks (WM DOB 8-15-80) in the driveway reporting that he had been stabbed by John Paul Hurley (WM DOB 10-18-93). The deputies entered the house and handcuffed Hurley. Upon investigation it was reported that an argument ensued between Spinks and a juvenile in the home. When questioned Hurley stated he was an observer of the argument between the two and when it turned physical he tried to call the police. He stated that Spinks tried to grab the phone and then swung at him. That's when Hurley grabbed a knife and stabbed Spinks in the chest area. The juvenile was questioned and repeated the same story. Spinks was transported to the hospital and Hurley was arrested for Aggravated Battery with a deadly weapon with no bond set. The juvenile was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
