UPDATE

5-25-08

Results of an autopsy reveal that the victim, Herman Maurice Levins, died from a single gunshot wound to the head. A joint investigation with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office reveals that the homicide actually occurred in Escambia County , Florida therefore their agency has now assumed responsibility for the investigation. A suspect for the homicide is now in their custody. All further requests for information should be directed to Mr. Glenn Austin, Public Information Officer for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

The victim found on Anderson Avenue on May 22, 2008 has been identified as Herman Maurice Levins (identified below) of 3422 West Luke Street , Pensacola , DOB 8-4-77 . The family of the victim has been notified by authorities. The cause of death will be determined following an autopsy. Santa Rosa law enforcement will be obtaining a search warrant to search an automobile of interest found in Escambia County yesterday evening to determine if there is any connection to the incident.

 

 

Body Found in Midway

5-22-08

On Thursday May 22, 2008 at 1:02 PM a call was received by the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office of a body found on Anderson Avenue just off Highway 98 in the community of Midway. Upon arrival deputies found the body of a black male lying face down on the clay road. Crime scene personnel and detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene. The identification of the victim has not been determined at this time and the cause of death is not being released. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
