On
11/09/08
at approximately 1200 hours, Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Deputies
were dispatched to the train tressel located at the end of McMillan
Road off of Mulat
Road in reference to a
subject being struck by a train. When deputies arrived, they found
that a CSX train had struck a 28 year old Milton
man that had been fishing
from a train tressel that crosses Mulat Bayou. The man, identified
as Thomas Kevin Hall, was fishing from the tressel with two other
individuals. A train was coming eastbound towards the tressel. The
subjects attempted to get off of the tressel as the train approached
at 36 miles per hour. Halls was struck by the train and thrown into
the water. One of the other subjects jumped into the water to assist
Halls, along with a nearby boater. Emergency personnel, along with
Life Flight arrived to render aid to Hall. Hall died from his injuries
while being transported to the hospital. CSX investigators arrived
on scene and are taking over the investigation. The medical examiners
office also arrived to assist. The other two subjects were not injured
