Police
re-launch search for person of interest
SAVANNAH,
GA (June 5, 2009): Savannah-Chatham Metro Police have re-launched
their search for a man they believe has key information regarding
a fatal hit-and-run on Ogeechee Road back on January 11, 2009. Fifty-four-year-old
Robert David Williamson was killed by a hit and run driver at around
6:30 that evening. Metro officers are reaching to Florida and nationally
to identify the person of interest.
This
man was captured on video just after 7:00 p.m. at the Auto Zone
on Ogeechee Road, in close proximity to the crash, making a purchase.
He is described as a white male, medium height and build with brown
hair. He may have tattoos on his forearms. Police have reason to
believe the man may have either been heading to Florida or resides
in Florida and have reached out to Florida law enforcement and media
to assist in the search. America's Most Wanted has also been approached
to broadcast the video in an attempt to identify and locate the
man.
Police
narrowed their search to a mid-90's model dark green GMC truck shortly
after the incident. At the time, it would have had damage to the
front right side, including a broken headlight.
Anyone
who can identify this man is asked to call Metro Police Accident
Investigators at 912-652-6650 or CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or
text to CRIMES (274637) and in the body of the text type CStop2020
plus the tip. You can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
