Delivery Woman Arrested on Charges Stemming From False Robbery Report
On
August
12 th , 2008 ,
shortly before 10
am , the
Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office was contacted in reference to an alleged
robbery of a DHL Express delivery driver. The driver, Jennifer Powell,
stated that while she was making a delivery on Windham
Road in
Milton
, she was
approached by multiple suspects in a red vehicle. Powell stated
that the suspects demanded that she give them all of the parcels
that contained narcotics. According to Powell, the unknown suspects
removed multiple parcels containing narcotics from the back of the
delivery van and fled the scene. Investigators spoke with Powell
concerning the allegations and found that Powell completed two more
delivery stops before she ever contacted law enforcement concerning
the alleged robbery. Investigators interviewing Powell questioned
her regarding her account of the alleged robbery. During questioning,
Powell admitted that she had lied to responding deputies about what
had occurred. Powell also made statements to investigators admitting
that she was not approached by a red car occupied by two suspects.
Investigators were able to determine that Powell was involved in
the theft of the narcotics from the delivery truck. A large quantity
of narcotics was stolen, and investigators are currently working
on the case in order to track down the stolen narcotics. Due to
the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information
can be released at this time. Powell was arrested and charged with
the following crimes. A photograph of Powell is attached to this
