Milton Man Gets Sentenced to 20 years For Meth Charges

Last week, Dennis Wayne Elliot, 46, was convicted of trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of listed chemicals, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence. The case stemmed from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office narcotics Unit serving a warrant at Elliot's home on July 29, 2009 . During the warrant service, Elliot knocked over a jar of methamphetamine oil, creating a chemical reaction.The home had to be evacuated and deputies re-entered wearing protective gear.Circuit Court Judge Gary Bergosh set sentencing for Elliot for June 30. Elliot was facing as many as 45 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 15 years. On June 30 th, Elliot was sentenced to 20 years in State Prison, with a minimum mandatory 15 years. Assistant State Attorney Michelle Janson and Amber Rowland prosecuted Elliot.
