Pace Arsonist Burned
At 2024 hours, Santa Rosa County
Sheriffs Office Deputies responded to 4037 Kentwood Street, Pace, FL, in reference
to an arson complaint. The homeowner advised dispatchers that someone
had set his fathers vehicle on fire in the driveway of the residence.
Witnesses stated that they observed two suspects running from the vehicle
after it exploded. One of the suspects was engulfed in flames as he was running
from the scene. Flames from the suspect caught nearby woods on fire as he
ran through them. Pace Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish
the fire. Burned clothing belonging to the suspect were found at the scene.
It is believed the suspects left in a vehicle that was waiting on a nearby
side street. Other witnesses stated that they observed the suspects walking
up to the victims residence wearing Halloween masks carrying large buckets.
The incident is currently being jointly investigated by the State Fire Marshal's
Office and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office. Crime Scene Technicians
and investigators are currently on scene. No further information is available
