Unknown Type of Disturbance in Pace Leads to Female Suspect Firing Shots at Residence Then Taking Her Own Life

At approximately 1:15pm , Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to 5433 Tom Sawyer Road in reference to a female suspect shooting into a residence at this location. Deputies were told that a female suspect had arrived at that location in a small blue vehicle. According to witnesses, the female then discharged an estimated 5 to 6 rounds into the front door and window of the residence. There were subjects inside the residence that were not harmed, and they immediately contacted 911. When deputies arrived, they observed the female suspect sitting on the front porch of the residence, still armed with a handgun. The female was threatening to kill herself, and kept the firearm pointed at her. Deputies immediately requested that crisis negotiators and the SWAT Team respond to the residence in an attempt to resolve the situation peacefully. The female suspect continually was yelling to deputies to "kill her", as she continued to point the firearm at herself. Deputies were able to safely evacuate three individuals that were present inside the house by utilizing the rear door. The female suspect discharged two rounds from the firearm while the deputies were present, but the shots were not fired towards the deputies or any other person. A short time later, the female held the firearm to her chest and shot herself. The self inflicted gunshot wound occurred before negotiators and SWAT were able to arrive. The female was immediately transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by EMS . The female suspect succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Investigators are currently working on the case to determine what transpired prior to the incident, and why the suspect came to the house and opened fire. The deceased has been identified as 19 year old Chantae Faulk, W/F, of Milton , FL. No further details are available at this time.
